Actually I teach animation now So advice on proportions... the thing is, with animation, it's all about practice practice practice, but the important thing is to study anatomy a lot, stuff like Andrew Loomis is good cos he breaks down proportions for basic body parts. Do lots of life drawing, and/or drawing people from photos.

DON'T draw clothes and details, just draw basic shapes. You have to train your eye to see proportions from one drawing to another, a good thing to do is draw turn-around model sheets. Start with the front, then 3/4 view next to it. Then rule lines horizontally from the front view: From the top of the head, the shoulders, elbows, waist, knees and feet. You'll probably notice that A LOT of stuff won't line up on your 3/4 drawing. It's good to make mistakes, acknowledge them, learn to see them for yourself and aim to fix them.
